I Love you

Long due post....

As I reached home one day, Sanjiv came to me in full excitement...
Sanjiv: 'Mom, you know what happened at school today ?'
Me: 'Yeah darling'
Sanjiv: 'I told, I Love you Ms.Sandra'.
Me: 'Hmmmm why did u say that'
Sanjiv 'She looked very beautiful, that's why'
Me: 'Ok, what did Ms.Sandra say ?'
Sanjiv: ' I love you'...Then his cute little naughty smile.

(Ok ladies, watch out for Mr.Romeo !!!!!!!!!)

PS: Ms Sandra is his class teacher :)-

Lunch time challenge

Sanjiv is not great of fan of food....He can survive on with one piece of bread for the whole day. So you can imagine his lunch box coming back as packed(maybe few bites here and there)....Rice is big NO NO for him
I had to use poison to break the poison...Finally I threatened him by saying that if he doesn't finish his lunch, then I will feed only Rice with greens as his dinner....One day I even did that....Boom !!!! like magic he has started to finish his lunch...HURRRRAYYYYYYYYYYY !!!!!!!!!!!

Me: ' Why baby'
Sanjiv: ' because she will look pretty in that'
After hearing this, I thought maybe I should stop calling him baby anymore....My son is growing up......

I was going through some old photos with sanju. We came across the below photo and told sanju, look how fat is appa.

He looked at it, and said it is just costume mom. You know why, because appa is dark color and in this photo his body is fair :)-

Heelys.

YouTube Video

Boost of confidence.

When he started to crawl/walk/talk he didn't really realize that he is learning something new. On his fifth b'day he wanted shoes with wheels as his b'day gift. So we got him Heelys. When he tried it on, it hit his confidence. Because he fell few times. Then it took him a while to wear the shoe again. Yesterday I gave him the confidence that he can do it. And he did it. And now he understands that if he tries and practice he can do anything. And focus is the key. Lessons learnt. I should never give up on pushing him to do new things. He should remember the he can do anything.
Now that he learnt to do it, he sings 'I believe I can fly. I believe I can touch the sky'

Next step towards his intellectual growth

As Sanjiv turned 5 years old, he entered Senior Kindergarten class. Yesterday, 20th Aug was not only his b'day but also his first day in new school. He started his SK class in Canadian International School.
When I asked him how was the school, his response was, 'Amma, I was scared in the morning, but then the school is awesome. I liked it'....I was so happy to hear that.....Big Big relief.

Me: 'How are you and your baby ?'
Sanjiv: 'Let me see Banu attai's baby'
Banu: ' Baby is my tummy. So, you can't see'
Sanjiv: 'Amma, only gurls have baby in tummy right ?'
Me: not knowing why he asked this, reluctantly, 'Yes'
Sanjiv: 'sure, boys will not get baby in their tummy'.
Me: 'yes darling.'
Sanjiv: Sighhhh ' thank god, I am boy'
Me: surprised as usual. 'Why darling ?'
Sanjiv: 'if I am a girl, I will get big tummy and they will cut my tummy to get the baby '

Oh My God !!!!!!!

My feelings

Tomorrow, Sanjiv will be going to Etonhouse Preschool for one last time. It will be his last day in that school.
I still remember how I felt when I took him for the first day...I was all excited and scared....
I felt, I am moving a little fish from a small pot to a pond...The fish indeed enjoyed the larger space...
Now, it is getting bigger...It is like moving the fish from pond to Ocean. As, next month he will be starting his K2 in mainstream school....I am more scared than he will be...I dont know how he is going to integrate into the class...How is he going to adjust to new environment...how is he going to learn new language ?
So many How's ? Only time will answer....

His best friends in EtonHouse -
Arjun and Ethan
The kids who ever there with him from beginning till now -
Sana, Rinka, Reine, Tomoya, Cadence.

I know he will miss his friends and I am sure he will make more friends..It is something he is going to do for first time...Say Bye to a know environment & people and move on to the next one...It is part of the learning process...Hope he takes it well...

How to handle Haze in Singapore

Yesterday, I had a conversion with my son regarding the Haze in Singapore ....

Sanjiv: Amma what is this...Why so much fog

Me: It is Haze Sanju.

Sanjiv: What is Haze.

Me: It is because of the fire in Indonesia forest. The air is polluted.

Sanjiv: Woh. Then, let’s follow the trace and use my water gun to put the fire off.

(How I wish things were so simple)

Me: It is not small fire da. It is huge.

Sanjiv: Woh. My Ben 10 watch is not real. Can you get me a real Ben 10 watch. Then I can become water Ben and put off the fire. Can you mom, please....

(He and his Ben 10 obsession, How to make him understand that there is nothing called real Ben 10 Watch)....

Boring Mom

According to him I am a boring mom...Reason for this declaration,
1. I make him sit in the baby seat in the car
2. I make him do some writings.
3. I always tell him to switch of the TV :)-

When can I get my driving license ?

Yesterday while driving Sanjiv to school, we passed an accident scene (a bike and car).

Me: 'Sanjiv when you grow up and drive bike, you need to be very careful. The damage is always more for the bike than for the car'.
Sanjiv: 'Mom, I dont want to drive bike. I want to drive only car, that too only fast car'.
Me: 'Happy to know that'....
Sanjiv 'So, when can I get my driving license ?'
hmmmmmm
Me: 'When you are 18 years old'
Sanjiv 'Man, that will take ages. Can I have the car and the car key to myself when I am 6 years old'
Me: 'No. You are still a kid'
Sanjiv:' 'No, I will be tall. Anyway, how do I get license'.
Me: 'You need to join a driving school, a teacher will teach you how to drive, then u take a test to get license.
Sanjiv: 'Oh Man...again teacher...but I know to drvie'
(This guy really has aversion towards learning anything from anyone...Thinks he knows everything...God only knows how to change it)....
Me: 'You always needs to learn something from someone...By the way what will you do when u start to drive ?'
Sanjiv: ' You let me know where you want to be dropped and picked up. I will wait in the car park with the car and key, and will be seeing cartoon'...
(I love this mix of adult thought and childishness).

He thinks driving his toy car and real car is all the same...
Anything that doesn't happen NOW, is ages for him...
Cartoon is his world.....
God, help ME......

Co-operation

Today, Murali had a meeting starting at 8.00am.So, he decided to take the call from home and I had to drop Sanjiv at school. I had a meeting at 9.00, so I had to really rush my little boy. He was very co-operative and we managed to leave home early. On the way, I thanked him for being co-operative. As usual I got an immediate response, 'you asked me nicely in the morning to be co-operative.that's why I was behaving else I could have got very upset'.
So in way he told me that if I am nice to him, he will be nice to me...So why not just be nice to him always.......

Bend it like Beckam

Have enrolled Sanjiv into football team. I would like him to enjoy sports. Who knows one day he will thank me for this. But for now he doesn't want to go for class. For this matter, he doesn't want to go any class. No swimming class, no soccer class or no music class. All he wants to do is play in pool or run in the field.

No School

This week is term break and since my parents are here, Sanjiv is staying back at home. He is so happy to be at home that he wakes up at 7.00am no matter what time he goes to sleep.
He reminds me how much I enjoyed being at home and not going to school. Even a little drop of rain would make me take off and my dad had no issues with it...My mom was the one who forces me to go to school....

Sleep over is kool

Last weekend we went to spend some time with our family friend who live in Malaysia.

According to Sanjiv, he was having sleepover with his friends (he slept with us though). On the way back he wanted to know when we will be going again because sleepover is kool and home in sgp is boring...
He changed the definition of sleepover and for him any place where he doesn't have to go to school is kool....

How was your day ?

In the evening after I reached home -
Me: Hey, baby how was your day
Sanjiv: Not, good.
Surprised
Me: Why darling ?
Sanjiv: Aunty didn't let me play basket ball for 25 min. I played only for 10 min.
(for sure doesn't know how long is 25 min and how long is 10 min)...
Me: Hmmmm ok, but how was your day in school.
Sanjiv: Good...No No...not so good
Me: Why ?
Sanjiv: Ethan and Arjun kept breaking my beautiful lego tree.
So, when he went to change his dress, I broke his.

Basket ball and lego tree decides how his day went on....How I wish, I had such simple things to decide how my day goes :)-

Observation

Some gurl is lucky out there..

Sanjiv now-a-days even notices my nail paint...Yesterday, in the iPad somehow he opened the email with few nail art options...I, have actually got one design done...He looked at those designs and choose one and told me, 'Amma this is nicer and prettier than the one you have got. But yours is also nice'...
I would say this is what I expect from my hubby. How smart of him to say that some other design is better than mine but at the same time ensured that I don't feel too bad....

Music lesson

Today, in the bed Sanjiv was trying to teach me some music notes. It was the re-telecast of the music class he had at school. The class went on for almost 10 min and I had to thank god for not having broken finger at end of the session.
His intention behind the class in the bed can be to
1. Buy some time to be awake
2. Get some sense of music into me.
3. Just practice session for him.

Whatever was the actual intention, I had good time and also knew what happened in the school. :)-

Innovative way to clean the house

My Son's innovative way to help me. In case you didn't get it how, look at his toys carefully. I am so happy about the way he thinks and executes....

Greeting from grandpa

Message to Sanjiv:
Your thatha has put in lot of effort to learn the technology and send a beautifully signed greeting card to you. Hopefully you will appreciate his efforts one day.

Sugarcane tasting

For first time, Sanjiv tasted Sugarcane as part of Pongal celebration . He liked it but was too lazy to chew it...Next year I am sure he will enjoy eating it....

Happy B'day mama

A small conversion between us on 15th Jan.
Murali: 'Sanjiv, it is amma's b'day tomorrow'.
Sanjiv: 'Woh, I get presents and cake'
Me; 'Its my b'day. Can I know why you will get presents'.
Sanjiv 'Ok, then you wish for Buzz Lightyear toy. Then you share with me as we are family'
Me: 'Hmmmmm that sounds like a plan'.

I like the way he brings in the sense of family for his advantage. Anyway, on my b'day he got spiderman present and I had good time with him.

He went and told everyone in the school that it was my b'day. His school principal wished me and told me that he insisted that she should wish me. And he had promised to give her the cake. Today morning without failing he took a piece of cake for her. Happy that he keeps up his promises.

Foolish turtle story

I was reading out 'Foolish turtle' story to Sanjiv. Story goes like this,
A turtle wants to migrate to different place along with his two goose friends. So the geese comes with the idea of turtle holding onto a stick with its mouth, and the the two geese to fly with the stick. They agree to the plan and on the way, the kids make fun of the turtle. The turtle gets angry and shouts at the kids and alas, falls to ground. The book ends with the moral 'Dont talk if not needed '.
I was trying to explain the moral to Sanjiv and thud came the reply from him.
Amma the turtle should hold to the stick with his hands before speaking. Then he could have not fall down.....
Oh God...he has his own logic...Even though it is difficult to get my point out, I am happy with his logical thinking.

Vacation time

Yesterday, Sanjiv called me at work to inform me that it was December. Good reminder that he is growing up and from next year I need to plan a decent holiday for him.

Sanjiv: With full of excitement 'it is December, you know ?'
Me: 'Yes baby'
Sanjiv: 'So when will it snow.Tomorrow or Next week'
Hmmmm. too much of Disney and Santa cartoons.
Me: 'It doesn't snow in Singapore'
Sanjiv: 'Ok, then does it know snow only in India ?'
Me: 'No, there are other countries where there will be snow'
Sanjiv:Can we go there...
Me: In mind:Oh no...What shall I say...
Sanjiv can we talk about this when I am home
Sanjiv:'Ok'

Happy New Year

Happy New Year dear Sanjiv.

This is 5th New year we are celebrating with you. All these years have been great and interesting.
I have seen you seen from crawling to walking to running...Heard you speak nothing to question me...
Saw you laughing and crying and screaming...
At times you have driven us crazy...but most of all you have made us happy....

I know this year is also not going to be any different and I am looking forward to it...This year, for first time you will be wearing school uniform through out the school term....This year you might go to a new school...this year you might be questioning me more....this year you will learn to right words...this year might do so many other things....
I can't wait to see what all is going to change and what all is going to improve....
One thing I am sure is, it is going to be a great year....

Once again, Happy New Year my baby

With Luv,
Mom and Dad....
