Yesterday I was watching a talk show 'Coffee with Anu' in tamil channel. The guest for yesterday's episode were an IPS and IAS officer. The IAS officer very beautifully said that what is the life of being child a without displaying the acts of an innocent child. How very true it is...Now-a-days we find so many people being happy when their kids show a maturity of 10 years old at age of 3. When they sit quietly without being active/naughty 'Kurumbu', parents are proud that their child is well behaved. How unfair on the kid. They are not being child. They are trying to be someone their parents what them to be. We are proud if our child can have a nice conversation without the childish word in it. But hearing those "Mazhalai" talk is so sweet and beautiful. We might have mastered 10 languages with perfect accent but then it will be quite a challenge to master a child's mazhalai mozhi (Childish language). It is so sweet and it so beautiful that only a child can do it so perfectly. I just hope that I am not trying taking any of these sweet talks from my Son by teaching him to say a word correctly. I love my son when he does all those kurumbu. I get bored when he is sleeping and I have don't any errands.
This is a humble request to all parents or would-be parents reading this blog, Please don't take away those wonderful childhood days from your child in name of disciplining them or making them talk perfectly. You can do that at a later stage but you can never give them back those innocent years.....Let a child be a child..

Gentleman's agreement....
My dad troubles my son asking for a kiss every now and then. Sanjiv keeps refusing to give him a kiss. One day my dad took him for a walk and got him lots of chocolates and managed to strike a deal with him. Their deal was a good night kiss everyday. Next day itself my dad realised that the deal should have been a kiss when ever he asked...But it was too late realisation as the deal was set...Now, when ever my dad ask for a kiss in the morning, his reply is 'Thatha there is light.Kiss in the night'. Other day my dad gave him a kiss when he was lost in the TV. Sanjiv cried and in between cries he kept saying 'Thatha kissed, light is there, thatha kissed' . No amount of 'Sorry' could stop his cry....Then appa told him "Ok then u give back the kiss I gave you'. Sanjiv gave him a kiss and stopped crying....
Then on when ever my dad wants a kiss from his grandson in the day, he will simply give him a kiss, Sanju will make a fuss and then will give it back to him as it is not night....My dad is a cheater....
But I am proud to say my son is a gentleman....Every night he looks for my dad and voluntarily gives him a good night kiss. He keeps up his part of the deal.

Transition
How will it to be become from to 'one of the'. This exactly what Sanjiv is going through.
Till now at home he was THE one to rule everyone. He was given the top priority and importance. He was the world for all of us. But in school he is just one of the student. He gets the same attention like the other kids get. This is the first real time experience of the world for him. Hopefully he can mange both the real world and him being the world for few of us well.

End of crucial First week
Today, sanjiv completed one week of successful schooling.
As I have already given an update of first two day, let me get into remaining three days. On third day, I had to forcefully leave him and go. His crying upset me more and made me shed tears. There was even one point where I thought of pulling him out of school. Then my dear hubby had to get some sense into my mind. So we went few km away from school and checking mobile every 10 min to see if we had missed any calls from school requesting us to come and be with him. Luckily the staffs at school were able to pacify him. He had few stunts in between but over all he stayed in school without us. Fourth day I didn't have enough courage so gave an excuse of important meeting in office and made my husband drop him at school. Sanjiv cried and refused to let him go. He had to forcefully leave him and go. Same thing happened today as well. Today it was slightly better as he didn't cry in class. He cried only while entering the school. After that he was absolutely fine. He even ate his lunch by himself and that too fully. This has given us the confidence that he will eventually enjoy going to school.

No school, my office
Today after Sanjiv came back from school, I asked him, how did he do today in the school. His response was 'Amma no school, papa office'. The translation of this sentence is 'Amma it is not my school, it is my office'...
It was so funny to hear him say it....

EtonHouse Pre-school
First day in pre-school
Today 3rd Jan 2011, my son stepped into pre-school for the first time as the student of EtonHouse.Along with his father and me, he entered into the school around 9.15(as usual late by 15 min). He loved to see so many toys and books inside the classroom. He was so excited that he didn't know which one to play with. As usual the toys which other kids were holding attracted him more. It would have been the same one that he had rejected previously....He had non-stop supply of pristine white paper to cut and throw...Numerous crayons and sketch pencil to scribble...Lots of books scattered around....I was sitting inside the classroom and Murali waited in the school reception area. He was having gala time.
Then it was time to wash hands and have snacks...He enjoyed the snacks for 4 sec as he didn;t had his breakfast. After 4 sec, he refused to eat and just wanted to play with newly found toys.
Then the teacher suggested me to step outside the classroom to see how is being on his own. After 15 min she came out and mentioned that he is doing pretty well. I went and checked secretly how he was playing. He was quite good. So, me and Murali went to get us a drink. By the time we came back, there was flood in the school from all the tears Sanjiv had shed.He insisted that me and Murali have to be inside the classroom. Once we were inside, he was back to form. Around 12pm, they gave lunch. Chicken pasta. He didn't even touch it. Then around 12.15 it was time to go home. We left the school happily....
Few of his classmates had been in that school for sometime. They were the silent watchers of the drama staged by the new comers.
One new student mom left the classroom quite early. Poor girl she was crying all the time. Hopefully Sanju will start to be on his own very soon.
