Bank account

Yesterday, finally I managed to open the bank account for Sanjiv. It is linked to mine but still it is kids account under his name. He is excited about having his own account and expects me to fill it up. Oh boy !!!!!! I have told him that creating it is my responsibility and filling it up is his. I will have to take him this weekend to deposit the money from his piggy bank. Hopefully he learns the concept of balanced spending.

Reasoning

Then main reason to enroll Sanjiv into an IB school was for him to learn with understanding and reason things and not just obey to authority. To think logically and question in a right way. As usual it back fires to me.
I appreciate the fact that he is made for IB style but what I can't accept is his reasoning to get things from me.

One of his classmate wears watch to school. I know about this from his class teacher's weekly blogs and photo post.
So when Sanjiv asked me to buy a watch for him, I asked him is it because his friend wears it. His response as usual shocked me.
Sanjiv:  ' No amma. All the clocks in the school don't show right time. Because of that I either miss my lunch time or play time. That's why, now you understand'....

Now tell me how can I say no to his reasonable request....

So I got him the digital watches he already has (Lego/Mickey/Diego)...He immediately gave me that dirty look and said, 'Do you want the kids at my school to laugh at me.I am in Grade 2 and I am grown up.Can I have a watch with number dials and it has to be plain black'...

And it didn't stop there...

I told my husband clearly that we will have to buy a cheap watch as there are high chances of him loosing it at school.

when we took him to shop, the shop keeper showed a watch which is water resistant, has alarm, timer and glows in night...

Sanjiv comes to me and says, can we buy this watch...again his reason to buy that expensive watch was
1. He goes to swimming in school. So if it is water resistance, he doesn't have to remove the watch and worry about it being lost.
2. If it has alarm, he knows the time to go to bed. I don't have to remind him. As if he listens to me and an alarm can make him sleep on time.
3. Timer - He knows how long he is spending his time in reading and watching TV
4.Glows in night- In middle of the night, he doesn't have to wake me up to know what time it is .Oh ya, as is he wakes every hour to check time...

And with all this reasons he got a watch he wants that too for the cost I didn't plan....

What do you guys have to say about this ???????

Pranks

During last week of Mar, for first time I told Sanjiv that Apr 1st is April Fools days. He asked me what that means and I told him that usually people play pranks on each other. I told him that the pranks should be harmless and should not hurt anyone physically or emotionally. It should be a good fun. He asked me some of the pranks I did. I told him that the famous one was a pop up of paper snake from an innocent looking Gems(Indian version of M&M) box.
On Apr 1st, he did have some fun with his grandma and nanny. He also played some tricks with his dad.

The best thing was, yesterday he gave me a small jewelry box and told me to open it. I told him that he can't be playing with that box as his grandma has to take it to India. As I opened the box, a fold-able Frisbee poped out. He told me that it was his version of pop out snake. I was truly amazed by his memory and his presence of mind to do a prototype of it.

In the world, it never stroked me that I can use that flexible frisbee like that and also forgot about that prank I though him....He was good in correlating both the things.. Way to go son...way to go....

I will post the video of his prototype soon :)-

List of pranks that I thought it

1. Pop-out snake
2. Coin sides to be blacked with pencil and ask an innocent person to roll it on their nose
3. Change the label of Sugar and Salt
4.Throw a dummy cockroach
5. Take the batteries of all the remotes and make people wonder why no remotes are working

I know one day it will back fire on me...But what is childhood days with having some fun on April 1st :)-

Respect

I am shocked at the kind of thought process that goes through the young kids mind.
I would have known the meaning to the word 'Respect' when I was around 10 or something but don't remember when I started to expect elder people to respect me.
.My son who is not even 7, not only knows the exact meaning of this but also demands it. His statement is 'I am kid so it doesn't me you can talk to me rudely. Why are you not respecting me and my feeling'. Let me give you incident that let to him talk like this. Then you will understand why I am more annoyed. He was playing with a metal piece and very patiently I was asking him not to. But then he hit my TV cabinet and I raised my voice.
So I ended up telling him that you should earn respect and demand for it. Can't believe he is so grown up that I can have such talks with him. Is it he still a baby ?

Update

Seriously, I need to improve my routine of updating this blog. There is so much to say and record, but for apparently no specific reason, I am not doing it.

At least moving forward, I need to be more regular.

This year has started off well and its going on good so far. For sure it will one good.

We went to Korea for Chinese New year break.
He was very excited that finally he got to go and see snow. Not only play in snow, build snowman and define his own angel, he also got to ski. Yes !!!! He managed to go in intermediate level Ski slope.

I simply adore his enthusiasm to learn something new.

He picked up skiing so easily that even encouraged me to try it out...I just managed to go on beginners slope. He was happy that he went on intermediate level slope while I was only at beginners level. I think that gave him more joy than actually skiing.

Again for first time he tried out Ice skating and it skate off quite easily for him...He has good act of balancing.

He is keeping a journal while on vacation/holiday. It is coming out very well and he is proud of it.  I will post some pages out of his journal soon.

This year, he is going for Karate. And getting a hang of it.

Now he is understanding the actual routine during school days and his freedom during vacation time.

He is getting competitive at school.

Life is getting more interesting with him around..Everyday I thank god for bringing him into my life :)-
